Cubs backing the Blackhawks

Manager Joe Maddon is big on civic pride and off-beat bonding rituals, so today each Cubs player boarded the team flight to St. Louis wearing a Blackhawks jersey with their own name and Cubs uniform number on the back. Blackhawks host the Wild tonight in the second round of the NHL playoffs.

Dale Jr. gets first win of the season

Dale Earnhardt Jr. led a race-high 67 laps and cruised to an emotional win at Talladega. It's his sixth career victory at the track, but first since 2004.

Lincecum rocks Angels as Giants sweep

Tim Lincecum allowed just 3 hits over 8 innings, and San Francisco shut out the Halos in a 5-0 win. The Giants swept the three-game series with the Angels, who are already 7 games back of the Astros in the AL West.


Warriors cruise past Grizzlies

Memphis was playing without point guard Mike Conley, and the Warriors capitalized on his absence. Stephen Curry scored 22 points in Golden State's Game 1 win.


This car is on fire

Austin Dillon's day came to an early end at Talladega when his engine failed and his car caught fire. Fortunately, Dillon was unharmed in the incident.

Softball star throws 4th perfect game

Oklahoma freshman Paige Parker tied the NCAA record for perfect games in a season with her fourth, a 14-0, five-inning victory over Utah Valley. Parker struck out 12 of the 15 batters she faced to improve to 24-5 on the year.

Segura hit in helmet in Brewers' win

The Brewers beat the Cubs 5-3, but baseball took a backseat to a scary moment in the 8th, when Jean Segura took a stray fastball to the helmet from Cubs P Pedro Strop. Segura initially stayed in the game before exiting for a pinch runner.


Pardon the interruption? GS fans won't

Grizzlies guard Tony Allen interrupted a time out performance by children and then was later booed by fans -- including one annoyed spectator giving Allen two thumbs down -- as the player shot free-throws.


Twins beat up on Danks and White Sox

The Twins hit John Danks early and often, scoring 7 runs in 2 1/3 innings off of the White Sox starter on the way to a 13-3 Minnesota win. Chicago stranded 10 of 11 runners in the loss.


Game 1 storyline: 3-pointers

Memphis and Golden State are polar opposites when it comes to relying on 3's, and it showed in Game 1. The Warriors poured in 13 triples compared to Memphis' 3. Another way of looking at it: That's 30 more points on 3's for GS.
