ESPN Chargers reporter Eric Williams: "In an ideal scenario, the team would like to sign [Philip] Rivers to a long-term contract. … They know he’s an elite quarterback. They know they can win with him. … I think the one issue is they just don’t know if they can get him locked up long-term.”

Why are Cubs calling up Russell?

Hakem Dermish: "Well, because he's really good. Their second basemen have been struggling, hitting just .146 with the worst OPS in the majors, and they have only six hits -- all singles. Expect him to play second base when he joins the Cubs on Tuesday. ... Now with Addison Russell in the lineup, the sky is the limit for this team."
