Kachinsky added to Hot 30 Under 30 list
Chicago, Ill. BMX pro Brian Kachinsky was featured on Refinery 29's list of Chicago's Hottest 30 Under 30, alongside Chicago-area models, photographers, chefs, entrepreneurs and DJs.
"There was a wide variety of people on that list from artists to photographers to pro soccer players," said Kachinsky. "I would have put fellow Chicago BMX pro Kevin Porter on the list for sure," Kachinsky jokingly added.
Kachinsky, 29, originally from Appleton, Wis., has called the Ukranian Village area of Chicago home for the past several years. "I was honored to be chosen. I'm not sure why I was, but I guess they wanted to switch some stuff up and have a BMXer in there."
According to Refinery29, a Chicago-based Web site that focuses on fashion, beauty and style, Kachinsky is a part of the next wave of "rising stars that are making big waves in Chicago proper." And the write-up mentions Kachinsky's hectic travel schedule, his signature products from DK and etnies, his X Games 16 Bronze Medal in BMX street and his new indoor riding facility The Bakery, located on Chicago's Southside in a former baking factory.
Kachinsky, known for his dry wit, shrugged the "hottest" label away. "It's hard to feel hot in temperatures below freezing. Not to mention my Midwest skin hasn't seen the sun in a month or two."
Kachinsky continues to entertain out-of-town BMX pros at The Bakery, and will begin to travel more for the 2011 season starting in May. "In the next few weeks I'll be headed to England, China, Puerto Rico and possibly the Netherlands. There are some events in those places I will be heading to as well as taking some time to enjoy them as usual. I am also in the process of filming a Web video for the etnies site which is always fun. It's no secret that I love traveling and staying busy so hopefully I'll be coming to a town near you soon!"
