Clean three-to-four foot waves were on offer Sunday morning at Lower Trestles, prompting event organizers at the Hurley Pro at Trestles to call Round 1 of competition on at 8 a.m.

Event number six of 10 on the 2010 ASP World Tour, the Hurley Pro at Trestles will feature the newly-minted ASP Top 34 as well as a red-hot ASP World Title Race.

"We've got really fun looking surfing pulsing through this morning," Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. "We'll monitor conditions, but we look to complete all 12 heats of Round 1 and possibly a portion of Round 2."

While Kelly Slater may not have been able to best Andy Irons in the battle for Teahupoo, he may well be on his way to winning the war for a record tenth world title. And where else should it happen but Lower Trestles?

Not only was it the site of his breakout win at the 1991 Body Glove Surfbout, but in the nine years since the San Clemente pointbreak has been on the Dream Tour calendar Slater has never missed an event. From 2004-2008 he never missed a final. He owns three titles and a win ratio of 85 percent. He also holds the record for the highest heat score at Trestles.

Surfline is currently tracking several promising systems that could be set to deliver good waves throughout the event.

Up first Sunday was Dane Reynolds (USA), 25, Chris Davidson (AUS), 33, and Luke Munro (AUS), 27, in Heat 1 Round 1 of the Hurley Pro at Trestles.

The Hurley Pro Trestles will be webcast live via Hurley.
