Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback EJ Manuel had what coach Doug Marrone would only call "a procedure" on his left knee Sunday morning.
Marrone, underscoring that the team considers Manuel's surgery "very, very minor" said the Bills won't sign another quarterback during the rookie's absence. The team had said Saturday that Manuel will miss the remainder of the preseason. Marrone said Sunday that Manuel has a good chance of returning before the start of the regular season.
"We're not going to pursue that right now to bring somebody else in which I think says a lot. We're going to evaluate it after the preseason and take it day by day after that," he said, according to the team's website.
