Here are the morning headlines involving the Cincinnati Bengals:
Left tackle Andrew Whitworth has missed all three preseason games while recovering from knee surgery, but he hopes to play in the Sept. 8 opener at Chicago, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer. "It’s frustrating anytime that you can’t be healthy the moment you want to be. But that’s life,” Whitworth said. “In the big scheme of things it’s a small adversity, but it is an adversity. So we’ll just continue doing what we do to get back on the field.”
Right tackle Andre Smith said he expects to be ready for the opener, too. Smith tweaked his knee during Saturday's preseason game and didn't return. "I feel a lot better than I did a day ago," Smith told the Bengals' official website.
For those who missed last night's "Hard Knocks," the Enquirer writes a summary of the HBO series chronicling the Bengals training camp this year.
