What I think they’re thinking at the headquarters of the Indianapolis Colts this afternoon…
Hey, it was probably going to end before a Super Bowl run. But we hate that it ended like that, with a game that exposed our deficiencies -- particularly a weak offensive line that can give up a ton of pressure and a secondary susceptible to big plays. In time, the sting of this will fade and the big picture of this marvelous season will trump all. We were a great team. We weren’t loaded with the best talent, but we became a family that played better than the sum of its parts. And isn’t that what every team sets out to do at the start of camp? Our quarterback was great, and he’s only going to get better. He can move around and run, but he’s going to stick near the pocket as long as he can and he’s got the size and durability to qualify as the better long-term guy to have running our huddle than they have in Washington and Seattle. Protecting him better needs to be priority one for us.
