The Texans have already added a veteran leader in Ed Reed; should they add former Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher next? Nate Davis of USA Today considers.

Defensive end J.J. Watt has spent the week in the Middle East visiting troops at U.S. military bases on the NFL-USO Tour, and he's run into plenty of Texans fans along the way. "I’ve come across a lot of Texans fans,” Watt said. “A lot of people, when they come out to see us, they know we’re coming, so they’re bringing out their Texans sweatshirts, the hats, the banners, and its’ been really cool. I’ve even seen some cool hand-made Texans stuff over here. There are definitely a lot of fans over here. It’s pretty cool to see the support.”

The Giants re-signed David Carr, the No. 1 overall pick of the Texans in 2002, to back up starting quarterback Eli Manning.

Should the Colts consider adding Urlacher? "With all due respect to the future Hall of Famer ... No," writes Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The team re-signed receiver Jordan Shipley to a two-year contract worth a reported $1.315 million, reports Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.

On the "Jaguars This Week" radio show, the crew reviews the rule changes enacted at the NFL owners meetings this week.

Tennessee Titans

Count free safety Michael Griffin among those who are excited about the addition of free-agent safety Bernard Pollard. "[Pollard] makes his presence known. Now we have a guy who at any given moment can excite the crowd. And it makes the tight ends and receivers think twice about coming in certain areas, and even running backs,” Griffin said via Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean. “Everyone knows what he is about. When the ball carrier gets to the second level, it can mess with your mind-set. He’s a great addition. The guy is a big hitter for sure.”
