JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Observed in the locker room after the Kansas City Chiefs' 28-2 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Gabbert gets stitches: Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert left the game with fewer than two minutes remaining after he suffered a cut on his right hand. He received 15 stitches and had his hand wrapped after the game. Gabbert said he didn't further aggravate his fractured right thumb. "I don't think so," said. "We'll know more tomorrow and see what the doctors say and move on."

Shorts frustrated already: Receiver Cecil Shorts didn't catch his first pass until 8:36 remained in the game and the Jaguars trailing 28-2. But the fact that the Jaguars are 7-26 in his three seasons in the NFL frustrated him more. "We've got to improve, and we’ve got to get ready for Oakland next week, because I’m tired of losing," he said. "This is my third year. We’ve got to keep it tight. I trust in [coach] Gus [Bradley] and [GM] Dave [Caldwell] that the leadership will lead us to the promised land, but we’ve got to continue to fight and compete."

Going horizontal: Bradley said the Jaguars' offensive game plan early was to try to get the ball to the perimeter and let receivers Ace Sanders and Mike Brown make plays.
