Celtics guard Ray Allen became the 33rd player in NBA history (37th including ABA scoring) to reach the 20,000-point plateau during Wednesday night's game against the Washington Wizards.

Allen scored 11 first-half points before reaching the milestone with a 3-pointer with 4:43 remaining in the third quarter.

Allen should continue his ascent up the all-time scoring chart this month, with Tom Chambers (20,049 points) in his sights. If he remains healthy, Allen could climb as high as the mid-20's among all-time scorers (Hal Greer is 26th overall on the NBA scoring list at 21,586) by season's end.

Celtics forward Kevin Garnett passed Greer on Tuesday night against the Bucks, climbing to 25th on the all-time scoring list.
