BOSTON -- The Red Sox made a change in their rotation for the American League Championship Series, throwing Clay Buchholz in Game 2, the pitcher told reporters Friday.

The move means John Lackey will likely pitch Game 3 in Detroit against Tigers ace Justin Verlander. Lackey struggled on the road this season, going 4-10 with a 4.48 ERA in 16 starts. In the ALDS, the Red Sox started him in Game 2 and Buchholz in Game 3.

The Red Sox had previously announced Jon Lester would pitch in Game 1 on Saturday night at Fenway Park.

The Tigers will likely start Anibal Sanchez in Game 1 and Max Scherzer in Game 2.
