Here's what we learned from LSU's 48-16 win over Furman:

1. Running the ball is always a good thing: When the Tigers needed to get their offense going, they turned to the ground game. Running backs Jeremy Hill and Terrence Magee combined to rush the ball 21 times for 251 yards and four touchdowns. Hill had a long of 55 yards, while Magee ripped off a touchdown run of 39 yards. The Tigers finished the night with 328 rushing yards, which marked the second time this year they rushed for more than 300 yards. Quarterback Zach Mettenberger had a rough start to LSU's win, but when he started handing the ball off, the passing game opened up for him more and more.

2. Odell Beckham Jr. can handle more responsibility: The Tigers' top receiving target had no problem shouldering the load in the passing game. He caught six passes and made every single one of them count, as he gained 204 yards and had two touchdowns. Those touchdowns went for 37 and 63 yards. He averaged 34 yards a catch, and only two of his receptions went for less than 10 yards.

3. The bye week couldn't come at a better time: There's no question the Tigers came out flat against the Paladins. Mettenberger's second pass of the game went 76 yards the other way when Reggie Thomas stepped in front for the pick-six. LSU found itself in a fun 7-0 hole and fell behind 10-7 before scoring 13 straight points. A 28-point second half should fuel the Tigers going into the bye, but this team needs some rest before the Alabama game. The Tigers can't afford a slow start against the Crimson Tide, especially on the road, and the hope is that it's all out of their system now.
