South Carolina continues to come on strong after Penn State commit Jonathan Walton and visited him again today at Daphne (Ala.) Bayside Academy.
The three-star linebacker said in a text message that he's also scheduled an official visit to South Carolina on Jan. 18. The Gamecocks previously visited Walton a day before the dead period started.
He currently remains committed to Penn State.
Walton was one of four recruits to commit on Dec. 9 during their official visits, and he's the third linebacker in Penn State's class. If he chooses to commit to the Gamecocks, he would become their fifth backer.
In a Q&A with NittanyNation last month, Walton said he didn't think he'd commit elsewhere, because he liked the fact PSU wanted him as a Plan-A recruit, while other schools -- such as Ole Miss and Mississippi State -- clearly were looking at him as more of a Plan B. Penn State defensive coordinator Ted Roof offered him early in the summer.
