"I'm just excited to get the opportunity to play and represent (the) USA, but also Texas," Holland told ESPN Dallas via text. "It's a huge honor."

Holland, 26, was 12-7 with a 4.67 ERA in 27 starts (175 1/3 innings) in 2012. In 2011, Holland was 16-5 with a 3.95 ERA in 32 starts. That included a solid second half and a memorable performance in Game 4 of the 2011 World Series. Holland pitched 8 1/3 shutout innings as the Rangers tied the series at two games each.

Holland will join R.A. Dickey (Blue Jays), Ryan Vogelsong (Giants) and Kris Medlen (Braves) in the starting rotation. Joe Torre will be the manager, and Rangers special assistant Greg Maddux will be one of two pitching coaches.

Team USA will begin practice on March 1 in Scottsdale, Ariz. The first game of the tournament begins against Mexico on March 8, with the finals to be played at AT&T Park in San Francisco on March 19.
