MARYVALE, Ariz. -- Friday's game at Maryvale Baseball Park between the Texas Rangers and Milwaukee Brewers was cancelled after four innings because of rain. The Rangers led 2-0 at the time.

What it means: The Rangers maintain their three-game unbeaten streak. This is the third consecutive year a Texas-Milwaukee spring game has been rained out.

Mother Nature's fury: The weather was brutal throughout Friday's game. First there were scattered rain showers during the first three innings. Then, when the rain stopped a gusty wind picked up. Mother Nature then hurled her best fastball at the end of the fourth inning with a fierce hail storm that turned to rain ended the game.

Rain pain: With thunderstorms predicted for the Phoenix area Friday, a steady wind blew toward left field and made its presence known early. A first-inning pop-up by Craig Gentry seemed destined to fall between first and second base. However, the stiff breeze redirected the ball sharply left, and third baseman Alex Gonzalez had to make a quick adjustment on the run to make the catch.

Armed and dangerous: Leonys Martin has shown a good bat and glove this spring. In the first inning of Friday's game, he showed off his arm by gunning down Jean Segura at second trying to take an extra base on a slow roller to center.

Captain Kirkman: Rangers reliever Michael Kirkman continues his excellent spring. After throwing two scoreless innings Friday, he remains unscored upon in six innings. He's also tied for second on the team with six strikeouts.

What's next? The Rangers will play two split-squad games Saturday, one at home and one on the road. The Rangers will host Oakland in the game at Surprise Stadium. RHP Nick Tepesch (0-0, 1.80) will make his first start of the spring. RHP Dan Straily (1-0, 9.82) will take the hill for Oakland. The game can be heard on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM. The road game against the San Diego Padres will be played at Peoria Sports Complex. LHP Matt Harrison (1-0, 9.00) will start for the Rangers. He'll face LHP Eric Stults (0-1, 13.50), who will make his second spring start against the Rangers. Both games begin at 2:05 p.m. CT.
