MARYVALE, Ariz. -- There is another item to add to the short list of guarantees in life; when the Texas Rangers travel to Maryvale to face the Milwaukee Brewers for a Cactus League game, it will be called because of rain.

At least that is the trend for the last three years, including Friday when the game was suspended after four innings. Texas led 2-0 at the time.

The game technically entered a rain delay a little more than an hour after the first pitch, but the delay could have just as easily been due to high winds, cold temperatures, or just a general lack of interest, as neither team fielded many regulars.

The Rangers were also rained out in visits to Maryvale Baseball Park in 2011 and 2012. Last season's game was called after four innings, while the 2011 game ended before it got started.

The last time the Rangers and Brewers were able to complete a game was on March 27, 2010.

During the little bit of time the teams did play, Jeff Beliveau and Michael Kirkman each pitched two scoreless innings and allowed a combined three hits.

Manager Ron Washington said pitchers who were scheduled to throw today but were unable to due to the cancelled game will make up their work Saturday when the Rangers play two split-squad games.
