Nolan Ryan: Nothing to report yet

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Nolan Ryan may soon announce his decision about whether or not he will remain with the Texas Rangers as CEO, but the Hall of Famer isn't revealing anything yet.

Ryan spoke briefly Sunday morning when he arrived at the Surprise Recreation Campus, saying he had nothing new to report but would let everyone one know when there was.

A story in Sunday's Fort Worth Star-Telegram said Ryan is leaning toward staying, but Ryan didn't give an indication either way when
approached by reporters in Arizona this morning.

Uncertainty about Ryan's future first emerged on Mar. 1 after the club announced promotions for general manager Jon Daniels and COO Rick George. Daniels was named president of baseball operations and COO Rick George received the added title of president of business operations.

Reports surfaced last week that the alteration within the club's hierarchy was discussed in November and that Daniels was offered control of both
baseball and business operations. He declined the latter and accepted only the baseball operations post, but the new front office structure left some uncertainty surrounding Ryan's role.

Ryan has been with the Texas Rangers since 2008, when former owner Tom Hicks named the Hall of Fame pitcher the team's president. In 2010, he became a
minority owner and added the chief executive officer title in March 2011 when CEO and managing general partner Chuck Greenberg left the organization.
