MESA, Ariz. -- Manager Ron Washington said scratching Yu Darvish from Monday's start due to a stiff neck should not impact the right-hander's ability to stay on schedule for his first start of the regular season.

Darvish's pitching schedule for the remainder of the spring could be determined today if he gives the all clear about the discomfort in his neck, which flared up during a Sunday workout. If he feels good, Darvish's pitching appearances will be spread out over the next two weeks to keep him on track for the expected date of his regular-season debut.

"It's not a big issue. If he is fine today, then he'll do a bullpen," Washington said. "If that goes well, Mike (Maddux) will pencil him back in the game Thursday or Friday. We'll let him pitch a couple of innings in the minors, shut him down and get him ready for his next start. A lot of it is going to depend on today. The neck wasn't that big of an issue, it was just precautionary."

Darvish is 0-1 with a 1.04 ERA in three spring starts. In 8 2/3 innings, Darvish has allowed one run on five hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts.

Other injury notes:

  • RHP Colby Lewis (surgery - torn flexor tendon) and Joakim Soria (Tommy John surgery) are both throwing bullpen sessions.

  • C Eli Whiteside (mild left calf strain) is scheduled to catch Derek Holland in a game for AAA Round Rock today. He has been sidelined since Feb. 27.

  • LHP Martin Perez (fractured left ulna) is not expected to resume a throwing program for approximately 2-3 weeks.

  • RHP Kyle McClellan (strained lat muscle) is not expected to resume a throwing program for 3-4 weeks.
