Leonys Martin, Craig Gentry should see plenty of time

March, 27, 2013
Ron Washington isn't ready to say how the Texas Rangers will use Leonys Martin and Craig Gentry in the outfield. Both players figure to see plenty of time, either as starters or to give Nelson Cruz or David Murphy a day off.

"Both guys will play, but I am not announcing a platoon," Washington said. "I'll find a way to get them both playing time. I'm glad I'm in a situation where I have two guys that can play."

Washington came into spring confident he knew what he had in Gentry, but he was especially interested to see whether the reputation Martin carried into camp was true. Washington confirmed it was and came away impressed with his new weapon.

"It was Martin that I really wanted to see in center field because I never had an opportunity to see the talent and bat speed people said he possessed," Washington said. "I've seen it, and he's legit."
