ARLINGTON, Texas -- It's a matchup of talented young left-handers as the Texas Rangers' Derek Holland faces off against the Tampa Bay Rays' Matt Moore. First pitch is 1:05 p.m. on FSSW and ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM.

Holland (0-0, 2.57 ERA): Holland, 26, allowed two runs in seven innings in his first start against the Los Angeles Angels, keeping his team in the game as the Rangers rallied for a 3-2 victory. ... Holland had five strikeouts and only one walk and gave up a home run to Angels catcher Chris Iannetta. ... Holland threw 94 pitches, 64 of them for strikes. ... Holland looks to turn around his numbers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. He came into the season with a 5.41 ERA in his past two seasons at home. ... He has made eight starts vs. the Rays and is 4-2 with a 5.36.

Moore (1-0, 0.00 ERA): The 23-year-old will start for the first time against the Rangers in a regular-season game. ... He's seen them in the playoffs, beating Texas in Game 1 of the 2011 AL Division Series by pitching seven shutout innings in a 9-0 victory at Rangers Ballpark. Moore allowed only two hits -- both to Josh Hamilton -- struck out six and walked two. Adrian Beltre homered off him in Game 4. ... He was good in his first start this season last week against Cleveland, keeping the Indians scoreless through six innings. He had eight strikeouts as he picked up the victory. ... Moore, the Rays' top prospect last year, struggled with a 4.42 ERA in his first 17 starts, but had a 3.01 ERA the rest of the way. ... He struggled with his command in spring training, but had no problems with that against the Tribe, issuing just two walks.

Hitters: A.J. Pierzynski (0-for-3) is the only Rangers hitter with at-bats against Moore in the regular season. Evan Longoria (9-for-22, 3 HRs, 7 RBIs) and Ben Zobrist (6-for-21, 1 HR, 6 RBIs) have had success against Holland.
