ARLINGTON, Texas -- So much for the Texas Rangers' struggles with runners in scoring position.

Ditto for third baseman Adrian Beltre.

The Rangers put together one of their best innings of the season, scoring five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Derek Holland dealing and the offense getting chance after chance, the Rangers finally broke through and cruised to a 7-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.

The Rangers had managed just two hits in 13 at-bats with runners in scoring position in back-to-back losses against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday and Thursday. Texas avoided its first three-game losing streak Friday night by staying confident after scoring one run on eight hits in the first three innings against a Red Sox club that entered the game with baseball's best record.

"I knew we just had to stay positive," manager Ron Washington said.

Ian Kinsler, the Rangers' hottest hitter for the past week, started the rally with a two-out single to put runners at first and second. Red Sox starter Felix Doubront, who had been flirting with disaster, finally gave in as Elvis Andrus singled to left field for a 2-0 lead.

But the big blow came after Lance Berkman walked to load the bases. Beltre, 4-for-34 with runners in scoring position, lined a double on a 3-2 fastball up the left-center field alley to clear the bases for a 5-0 lead. It allowed everyone in the Rangers dugout to breathe a sigh of relief.

"I was happy he said he's not frustrated," Washington said about comments Beltre made after failing in two key situations in Thursday's loss. "Our spirits weren't down. That was a big hit."

The Rangers pounded out 17 hits and scored seven runs without a home run.

"We keep creating opportunities," Andrus said. "It's going to start paying off. Hopefully, our offense, especially with men on base, is about to get going."
