ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Rangers and Red Sox play the second game of a three-game series as right-hander Alexi Ogando faces right-hander John Lackey at Rangers Ballpark. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. on FSSW and ESPN-FM 103.3 and 1540-AM.

Ogando (2-2, 3.38): Ogando makes his team-leading seventh start and pitches with an extra days' rest after Monday's off day ... Ogando took the loss Sunday in Minnesota, allowing three earned runs in six innings ... It was Ogando's second consecutive quality start ... Ogando gave up a two-run home run to Justin Morneau in the sixth inning ... Ogando had three perfect innings in the start ... He is winless in his last four starts after beginning the season with a 2-0 record ... Home runs have hurt Ogando with four allowed in the the last three games ... He could use some run support as the Rangers have scored 2.53 runs for him, the fifth lowest in the American League ... Ogando had 10 strikeouts in his first start against Houston, and has five or fewer in his last five outings ... He is 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA in his last three home starts dating back to last season ... He is 1-2 with a 5.11 ERA in eight games/one start against Boston ... In his only start against the Red Sox on Aug. 25, 2011, Ogando allowed six runs, including a career-high four home runs, in four innings in a home start ... He retired all 12 Red Sox he faced in 2012 in relief.

Lackey (1-1, 2.61): Lackey has been miserable against the Rangers in his career ... He has a 6.16 ERA for 195 2/3 innings against Texas ... He's been even worse at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington despite a winning record of 7-6 ... Lackey has a 6.68 ERA in 18 career starts in Arlington ... Lackey's last start in Texas came on Sept. 4, 2011 when he allowed six runs on eight hits in five innings ... Lackey has made two starts this season, his last coming on April 28 against the Astros ... He allowed a run in six innings against Houston to get the victory ... Lackey was on the 15-day disabled list for three weeks before that with a right biceps strain ... He went on the DL after an April 7 start against Toronto in which he allowed two runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Hitters: Ian Kinsler (14-for-32, 3 HR, 8 RBIs) and David Murphy (7-for-16) have had the best success against Lackey. Maybe this will be the pitcher to snap Murphy out of a 1-for-17 slump. Adrian Beltre has been hit and miss against Lackey with a .196 batting average but two home runs and 12 RBIs. Stephen Drew is 2-for-3 against Ogando. The rest of the current Red Sox have batted .167 against him.
