Here were some of the highlights as we bring you our weekly Wash's Wisdom:

PODCAST
Ron Washington joins Fitzsimmons & Durrett live from Milwaukee for his weekly visit and discusses Nick Tepesch, the Rangers' rotation, interleague play and more.

  • The skipper was asked if there's been any consideration of breaking up rookie starters Nick Tepesch and Justin Grimm, who are pitching back-to-back in the Rangers' rotation. If the Rangers lose in Milwaukee on Tuesday night, they will have lost consecutive games for the second time in a row with Tepesch and Grimm.

The Rangers could adjust the rotation with Thursday's off day. Washington said it hasn't been considered.

"They've pitched their game the way they pitch their game, it doesn't matter," Washington said. "They're fine the way they are. It's just a matter of executing in certain situations. They're going to have to do that to survive at the Major League level."

  • Washington said he's a fan of interleague play and enjoys the strategy involved. He had to make the decision twice in Monday's game in Chicago of whether to walk Cubs No. 8 hitter Darwin Barney to get to pitcher Scott Feldman.

The ex-Ranger burned Washington once, getting the key hit of the game, a two-out RBI single in the fourth that ignited a five-run inning.

"One time it burned me and one time I got out of it," Washington said. "I was .500."

For managers, National League baseball -- without the DH -- puts them to the test.

"I enjoy the NL rules," Washington said. "The games moves fast. You have to be on top of things and think a little bit. There's a lot of strategy involved with the pitcher being in the lineup.
