HOUSTON -- The Texas Rangers today announced that left-handed pitcher Martin Perez has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and optioned to Double-A Frisco of the Texas League.

Perez has been on the disabled list since March 31 (retroactive to March 22) after sustaining a broken left wrist when he was hit by a line drive off the bat of Seattle’s Brad Miller on March 3. He made two starts on rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco, a no decision on May 6 at Midland (4.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R-ER, 0 BB, 1 SO) and a loss last night at Corpus Christi (3.1 IP, 9 H, 8 R-ER, 2 BB, 1 SO).

Perez is expected to be transferred to Round Rock later this week and join the Express’ rotation.

Perez was 7-6 with a 4.25 ERA in 22 games and 21 starts at Round Rock and 1-4 with a 5.45 ERA in 12 games and six starts in his major league debut with Texas in 2012.
