ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers reliever Joakim Soria's nearly two-year wait to return to the major leagues will last at least one more day.

The right-hander came through consecutive rehab stints with no issues this week and said he was ready to return Saturday. The Rangers decided to wait at least one more day. Manager Ron Washington said Soria could be activated Sunday.

Soria was recovering from elbow ligament replacement surgery when the Rangers signed the two-time All-Star to an $8 million, two-year contract last winter with a team option for 2015. He hasn't pitched in the big leagues since Sept. 11, 2011, for Kansas City.

Soria threw just 14 pitches total in back-to-back appearances with Double-A Frisco on Wednesday and Thursday. He tossed seven scoreless innings on rehab assignments.
