Darvish: Cautious approach makes sense
|Rangers GM Jon Daniels dishes on Yu Darvish's injury, whether he is concerned about a potential suspension of Nelson Cruz, his expectations for Manny Ramirez and more.
Darvish will miss only one start -- Thursday night in Baltimore. He gets the mandatory time off for the All-Star break and would be eligible to come off the DL on July 22 to face the New York Yankees.
If this is just a case of fatigue -- which is the way the Rangers are describing the injury -- they get to rest Darvish and get him ready for the second half of the season.
Alexi Ogando should be back to start one of the Rangers' three games against Baltimore next weekend once the break is over. Derek Holland and Martin Perez also could pitch in that series.
Darvish's missed start Thursday against the Orioles likely will go to either long man Ross Wolf -- who threw one pitch in Monday's win -- or Double-A starter Neil Ramirez.
That will depend on whether Wolf is needed for Wednesday's game against the Orioles should emergency starter Josh Lindblom not pitch deep into the game.
