ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Rangers try to end a seven-game losing streak Tuesday night as right-hander Alexi Ogando returns to the rotation to face Tampa Bay right-hander Jeremy Hellickson at 6:10 p.m. on Fox Sports Southwest and ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM and 1540-AM.

Ogando (6-4, 3.23 ERA): The Rangers turn to Alexi Ogando to stop a seven-game losing streak. ... He has pitched well out of the bullpen since returning from a third stint on the disabled list, throwing six scoreless innings in four games. ... Opponents are 1-for-17 with five strikeouts and a walk. ... Ogando was the winning pitcher in the Rangers' last victory, throwing 1 1/3 innings in a 4-3 win against the Angels at Anaheim nine days ago. ... He returned Sept. 1 after being out for 17 days with shoulder inflammation for the second time this season. ... Ogando has made 15 starts this season, going 5-4 with a 3.47 ERA. ... His fastball velocity and bite on his slider have returned in September. ... Ogando's velocity on his four-seam fastball is up to 96.14 this month after dipping to 93.26 in August before he went back on the DL, according to Brooks Baseball. ... Hellickson (11-8, 5.04 ERA): Hellickson has had a down and then up season. ... He is 8-3 since the All-Star break, but still has a below average ERA of 4.67. ... Hellickson has pitched his best at home, with a 4.52 ERA at Tropicana Field. ...The Rays have won six of his last seven home starts and 11 of 14 for the season. ... Hellickson didn't get a decision Thursday against Boston, allowing three runs in 5 1/3 innings in an eventual 4-3 victory over the Red Sox. ... Hellickson allowed two home runs in that start, which should make for an interesting night with the Rangers not hitting a long ball in seven games. ... He has averaged 91.5 mph on his fastball after seven days in late August working in the minor leagues. ... Hellickson has never beaten the Rangers. ... He suffered a 5-4 loss to Texas on April 8, allowing three runs and two homers in five innings. ... A.J. Pierzynski and Mitch Moreland hit back-to-back home runs off Hellickson in the start.
