Holland (9-9, 3.49 ERA): Holland looks to break out of a September slump. He is 0-3 with a 10.13 ERA in three starts, raising his ERA from 3.00 to 3.49. He has allowed 22 hits, seven walks and five home runs this month. ... Holland is winless in his last seven starts, the longest drought of his career. ... He has failed to complete six innings in each of his last three starts after going at least six innings in 14 straight starts and 23 of 27 to begin the season. ... Holland flopped against Oakland on Friday, allowing six earned runs in a season-low three innings. He allowed a three-run home run to Yoenis Cespedes in the first inning. ... Holland has a career-high 174 strikeouts this season but only seven in his last three starts. ... Archer is 6-3 with a 2.84 ERA at Tropicana Field. ... He went six scoreless innings in his start Friday at Minnesota, racking up seven strikeouts while allowing three hits and walking none. ... The Rays are 11-1 in starts when Archer goes six or more innings and 1-7 when he doesn't make it through six. ... Archer has thrown a career-high 116 innings. ... He doesn't have a walk in six of his last 13 starts. ... Archer has faced the Rangers once, striking out 11 batters last September in a game Texas eventually won 4-2 in 10 innings.

Hitters: Evan Longoria (9-for-24, 3 HRs, 8 RBIs) and Delmon Young (6-for-15, 2 HRs, 2 RBIs) have had success against Holland. The current Rangers are batting .211 against Archer over 19 at-bats.
