One of the fourth-quarter fights on Golden Boy promoter Richard Schaefer's drawing board is welterweight titlist Adrien Broner against hard-punching Marcos Maidana, a former junior welterweight titlist and Broner's mandatory challenger.

Jeff Bottari/Getty ImagesAdrien Broner's debut as a pay-per-view headliner, a proposed bout against Marcos Maidana, is likely for Dec. 14 in Las Vegas.
Initially, the date proposed for the Showtime PPV main event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas was Nov. 9. However, Schaefer told ESPN.com on Tuesday that the date of the card is being moved to Dec. 14, also at the MGM.

"We're still doing a Showtime card on Nov. 2, but the pay-per-view we are moving to Dec. 14 and I have the date confirmed with the [pay-per-view] industry and the MGM," Schaefer said.

Finalizing Broner-Maidana and several other late 2013 fights is the reason Schaefer was headed to New York on Tuesday. Top of his agenda is meeting with Showtime Sports chief Stephen Espinoza to hash out the particulars of the many fights they are planning together for the rest of the year. In fact, Schaefer was on the plane in Los Angeles waiting to leave for New York when we spoke about the new date for the proposed Broner-Maidana card.

Schaefer and Showtime have high hopes that Broner can become a pay-per-view attraction and this fight would be his first.

No word yet on the particulars of the Nov. 2 card.
