EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Pau Gasol will miss a fifth straight game because of lingering effects from the concussion he suffered Jan. 6 against the Denver Nuggets, according to the team.

Gasol was re-examined Monday morning -- the sixth time he's been evaluated since sustaining the head injury, which resulted from an inadvertent JaVale McGee elbow to the nose -- and was not cleared to play.

He will undergo another test Tuesday morning prior to the Lakers' game against the Milwaukee Bucks, but is currently listed as out for the contest.

"They're being extra-cautious to make sure he's OK," said Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni after practice Monday.

Gasol has already missed 12 of the Lakers' 37 games this season, because of the concussion and tendinitis in both knees.

The 12-year veteran is averaging career lows in points per game (12.2) and shooting percentage (41.6 percent).

Also on the injury front, backup guard Steve Blake has started to participate in shooting drills after being sidelined since Nov. 11 with an abdomen injury.

Blake underwent surgery in early December to repair a torn abdominal muscle and was expected to be sidelined a minimum of six to eight weeks after the procedure.

"There's no timetable or anything," D'Antoni said. "He's feeling a little bit better, but there's no timetable ... I wouldn't say he's officially ready to start ramping up yet."

Blake has played in only seven games this season, averaging 5.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.3 steals.
