EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- When the Lakers season opens on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Clippers, it's a good bet the starting lineup will be Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Nick Young, Shawne Williams and Pau Gasol, although head coach Mike D'Antoni would not confirm that on Monday.

Nash, who has been limited by neck and ankle discomfort, admitted he is not 100 percent heading into the Clippers game.

"I'm okay," Nash said. "I'm not where I'd like to be. But I think it will take some time to adapt. I have to get on top of it. But I feel good enough to go."

D'Antoni said the team would "probably" only play Nash less than 30 minutes per game this season, however the 39-year-old point guard did not seem interested in a hard and fast playing time ceiling.

"I'm not having any preconceived notions," Nash said. "If I play 35 minutes (Tuesday) night, I'm fine with that. If he doesn't need me that much, I'm fine too. I'm not going with any preconceived notions. I'm just going to go out and play the game hard and go out anyway I can and let Mike decide what he wants to do."

Another way the Lakers are trying to save Nash's body for the long haul is having him sit out one of the two legs of the 19 sets of back-to-back games they have this season, starting with the first two days of the season at home against the Clippers and on the road against the Golden State Warriors. While Nash and D'Antoni have discussed Nash resting against Golden State, they have not made a final determination yet.

"I'll wait to see what Mike wants to do and even (general manager) Mitch (Kupchak) and (trainer) Gary (Vitti) and how I feel I suppose," Nash said. "But I'm going to just concentrate on tomorrow night's game and go from there."
