Ask and you shall receive...

Earlier this afternoon in El Segundo, Mitch Kupchak was asked about the state of Kobe Bryant's health. Any news on that bum knee? That arthritic right index finger? Nope, he said, but when they had some information, they'd be happy to pass it along.

It didn't take long. A few hours later, the Lakers, "in response to recent media inquiries," announced Kobe underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to his right knee last week (secrets, secrets are no fun...). He's rehabbing, and expected to make a full recovery by the time camp opens on September 25. It's the third time this particular knee has been operated on.

No word yet on what Kobe plans to do about the digit, or when.

UPDATE: I'd promised some Kupchak video earlier in the day (again, here's all the news- Kupchak on Luke Walton, Matt Barnes, Shannon Brown, and more- if you missed it)... and it's here! Click below the jump for the moving pictures.
