Defensive end Xavier Jones (Magnolia, Texas/West) committed to Houston over the weekend, according to multiple sources.

Rivals.com lists Houston defensive line coach Ricky Logo as Jones' primary recruiter and Duke, Louisiana-Lafayette and Missouri as having also pursued the 6-foot-3, 200-pound junior.

"He's a dynamic defensive player," Magnolia West coach Shawn Bell told the Houston Chronicle. "He has a motor. He's a nonstop, active [player], always flying around until he gets to the football. He's the best defensive player I have been around."

Last season, Jones earned district defensive player of the year recognition after recording 10 tackles for loss and five sacks.
