Jerry Reese has some decisions to make with several of his own veteran players this offseason.

One of them will involve Terrell Thomas. The cornerback is rehabbing for a third time from an ACL injury. The Giants have a $6 million option on Thomas' contract that was put in the deal to protect themselves. So they will cut Thomas likely by March. But that doesn't necessarily mean the defensive back won't be back next season at a cheaper deal.

Reese said that the team will see if Thomas plans to make another comeback. And the GM raised the possibility of Thomas switching over to safety if he decides to try to return from a third ACL injury.

"Terrell obviously has the multiple knee surgeries so he will have to tread lightly on that and see where he is physically," Reese said on Thursday during an interview on WFAN. "Right now, he is still rehabbing. We will definitely reach out to him and see where he is and see if he is going to be able to try to make another comeback."

The GM raised the possibility of Thomas switching over to safety if he decides to try to return.

"He may be one of those guys at this point in his career, if he does get back on the field from the injury, you might have to move him to a different position like safety instead of playing corner," Reese said. "Because, a couple ACLs playing corner is tough to do.

"But he is a smart guy," Reese added. "You’ve seen guys before that start careers at cornerback, and have some injuries or lose a step and teams move them inside to safety. That is something we will look at."
