New York Giants linebackers coach Jim Herrmann has informed the Eagles that he is withdrawing his name from consideration for their defensive coordinator vacancy, according to a report by Newsday.

Herrmann interviewed with the Eagles over the weekend. New head coach Chip Kelly, who replaced Andy Reid, is in the process of assembling his staff.

Herrmann just completed his fourth season as linebackers coach for Tom Coughlin. Prior to that, he coached linebackers with the Jets from 2006-08.

Before coming to the NFL, Herrmann spent two decades on the University of Michigan staff and served as defensive coordinator there from 1997-2005.
