Juan Lagares was due to travel to New York to get his knee checked out after suffering an injury in winter ball.

The injury is "not serious" and Lagares has been advised to rest for two weeks.

Lagares, who is projected to be flanked by Curtis Granderson and Chris Young in the Mets' retooled outfield, is hitting .342 with one homer and 16 RBIs in 114 at-bats with his winter-ball club in the Dominican Republic.

Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
