The St. Louis Rams have remade their safety situation this offseason, adding third-round choice T.J. McDonald after parting with veterans Craig Dahl and Quintin Mikell.

They added veteran depth Friday by signing former Oakland Raiders starter Matt Giordano, 30 years old and a 2005 fourth-round choice of the Indianapolis Colts.

The chart shows Giordano's playing time throughout his career. The snap counts for the 2008 through 2012 seasons are from ESPN Stats & Information. I tracked down earlier counts from NFL sources.

McDonald and Darian Stewart have appeared most likely to start in 2013. The other safeties on the roster before Friday entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2012 or 2013. Giordano gives the team a more experienced alternative.
