Clements confirmed to a pair of reporters in Green By that the Packers have granted him permission to interview, presumably next week. NFL rules require that teams allow their assistants to interview for head coaching jobs, even if they are under contract, but the Packers could have delayed the interview until after their season is complete.
If the Packers defeat the Minnesota Vikings in Saturday night's wild-card round, Clements would have a one-week window to speak with the Bears, per NFL policy. It would have to take place prior to the Packers' divisional playoff game the following weekend.
We can now update our earlier post on the Chicago Bears' request to interview Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Tom Clements for their head coaching position.
