New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has a lot of admiration and respect for Baltimore Ravens middle linebacker Ray Lewis, who announced that he is retiring after the postseason.

The Patriots (12-4) are enjoying the bye week but Belichick took the time to briefly discuss one of the greatest linebackers of all-time.

"Tremendous player, tremendous career," Belichick said. "I’ve known Ray since I went down and visited with him in 1996 prior to the draft in Miami. He’s had a great career, he’s a great player."

Second-seeded New England may not have seen the last of Lewis. Baltimore (10-6), the fourth seed, could play the Patriots in the divisional round if the Ravens beat the Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans lose to the Cincinnati Bengals.
