NEW ORLEANS -- After several players told Ravens officials Wednesday night they'd prefer to practice on grass, the Ravens split their Thursday workout between the NFL-assigned Tulane University FieldTurf practice field and the grass fields at the New Orleans Saints facility in nearby Metairie, where the 49ers had just wrapped up their practice.
It's unusual for a Super Bowl team to practice at two different facilities. But it's unheard of for both Super Bowl teams to practice at the same facility. I'm guessing the same courtesy wouldn't have been extended if this had been the Patriots and not the Ravens. Let's call it one of the perks of this being the HarBowl.
The Ravens began their day suiting up at Tulane, where they held a 30-minute walkthrough before taking an eight-mile bus ride to the Saints' facility. Under "heightened security," as the pool reporter described it, the Ravens completed a one-hour, 25-minute practice.
For the second consecutive day, no one missed any practice time. The Ravens listed 14 injured players with full participation: WR Tandon Doss (ankle), LB Dannell Ellerbe (toe, back), CB Asa Jackson (thigh), FB Vonta Leach (knee, ankle), LB Ray Lewis (triceps), DE Albert McClellan (shoulder), DE Pernell McPhee (thigh), DT Haloti Ngata (knee), RB Bernard Pierce (knee, thigh), TE Dennis Pitta (thigh), WR David Reed (thigh), S Ed Reed (shoulder), CB Jimmy Smith (abdomen) and LB Terrell Suggs (Achilles, biceps).
