Weather conditions: It's a cool late-summer morning in Western New York, with temperatures currently in the mid-50s, expected to rise into the low 60s by kickoff. There will be increasing clouds throughout the day, but no precipitation is expected. Winds are light.
Byrd unlikely to play: The Bills must declare seven inactives by 90 minutes prior to kickoff. They have already ruled five players as out: cornerbacks Stephon Gilmore and Ron Brooks, kicker Dustin Hopkins, offensive lineman Doug Legursky and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin. Meanwhile, safety Jairus Byrd is listed as doubtful, making it unlikely that he will be active for the game. If Byrd is inactive, expect the final Bills inactive player to be either tight end Chris Gragg or defensive lineman Corbin Bryant.
Bills in throwbacks: The Bills will be in their white "throwback" uniforms today, with white jerseys, white pants, and a white helmet with the red "standing Buffalo" logo. The Panthers will be in black jerseys.
Wall of Fame ceremony: The Bills will honor 28 members of their "Wall of Fame" in a halftime ceremony where they will be given a Bills blazer. Among those expected to be in attendance are Thurman Thomas, Jim Kelly, Andre Reed, Bill Polian, and Marv Levy.
Game-day chats: Starting at 11 a.m., ESPN.com will host a "Sunday Countdown" chat, with observations from reporters across the NFL as game time approaches. Then, once Bills-Patriots kicks off at 1 p.m., we'll have an in-game chat where readers can contribute questions and follow along with in-game observations. Look for links to those later today.
Coleman gets the call: Veteran official Walt Coleman, in his 14th season as a referee, gets the call for today's game.
