The Ottawa Senators can't expect to replace superstar blueliner Erik Karlsson. Can they at least paper over the massive hole his absence has created in their lineup?

Karlsson, of course, is out for the season after undergoing surgery to repair the torn left Achilles tendon he sustained in a collision with the Pittsburgh Penguins' Matt Cooke on Wednesday. In the short term, the Sens are expected to spread Karlsson's 20-plus minutes of average ice time around the existing roster. If Ottawa struggles, though, GM Bryan Murray may be forced to consider alternatives -- including trading for Colorado Avalanche holdout Ryan O'Reilly.
