Manti Te'o's historic awards push came up just short to Johnny Manziel once again.

Johnny Football won the Associated Press player of the year award, gaining 31 votes to Te'o's 15. The margin, proportionally, was bigger than Manziel's Heisman Trophy win over the second-place Te'o.

Nonetheless, Te'o has a record six national awards under his belt. And, as he said Monday during Notre Dame's bowl media day, his eyes are focused on the crystal football he is playing for against Alabama.

"I haven't really thought of it like that," Te'o said of the awards. "I think it's just a great honor for me and for my school. That's how I approached everything, so I haven't really counted. But it's just been a great honor for me and my school. Hopefully we'll be holding up the real one on Jan. 7."
