Not a bad week for Brian Kelly, eh?
The Notre Dame coach inked the nation's No. 4 recruiting class Wednesday. He then took part in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, which started Thursday.
Kelly and his partner, James Driscoll, notched a 22-under to finish 23rd overall.
Brandt Snedeker and Toby Wilt won the event.
"After today's round, I think my pro (James Driscoll) would like to see me make it back to South Bend," Kelly, who is playing at a 13-handicap in the pro-am, told the San Jose Mercury News after Thursday's opening round. "I'm trying to stay out of the way more than anything. If I'm really good at golf, it means I'm probably not doing as well on the football field, as I should.
"If I don't have a built-in excuse for the round I had today, I don't think I'll ever get one," he said.
Kelly and New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick spoke with CBS about their golf games. Here's a video of their joint interview.
