Unable to swing deal, Red Sox GM will give rookies a chance

BOSTON -- Entering play Saturday, the New York Yankees were on pace to win 103 games, the Tampa Bay Rays 102, the Boston Red Sox 91.

Now, raise your hand if you think that any of the following would make a big difference in closing that gap:

Octavio Dotel, Kyle Farnsworth, Kerry Wood, Javier Lopez, Chad Qualls, Matt Capps, Will Ohman.

Thought so.
