Francona: Pedroia 'sounded good'

BOSTON -- Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona said Saturday morning that second baseman Dustin Pedroia sounded optimistic after undergoing season-ending surgery on his fractured left foot Friday.

"That was good to hear," Francona said. "Would certainly like to hear that rather than them come out and say, 'It's not what we thought it would be' or something like that."
