BOSTON -- Stephane Lasme thought he had to sacrifice his professional basketball dreams when he was informed he had to leave his Russian club team and return to the United States to complete residency requirements.

But as it turned out, by coming home he might have unknowingly stumbled upon his best opportunity at a second chance in the NBA.
