Jon Lester to start Red Sox opener

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The secret, if there really was one, is now officially out. Jon Lester will make his first Opening Day start when the Boston Red Sox play at Texas on April 1.

Terry Francona actually informed the left-hander he had the job in a text months ago. He was just told to keep it to himself until the manager finally went public before Lester pitched in a Grapefruit League game against the Braves on Wednesday.
