What the Red Sox should do: Go to spring training with Bard and Papelbon as the only locks, but have plenty of options to fill out the rest.
What the Red Sox should do: Keep Papelbon and Bard in their current roles, find two or three bridge relievers.
What the Red Sox should do:They need to sign a big-time arm during the offseason.
What the Red Sox should do: Boston needs to be aggressive in free agency to address the bullpen. There are two fantastic internal options in Rich Hill and Felix Doubront -- both lefties -- but that's not enough. The Red Sox place emphasis on two solid left-handers, so the team will go hard after Scott Downs. In addition, to truly lock down the bullpen, Jesse Crain is the ideal candidate, which leaves an incredibly deep and talented bullpen to combat a shaky rotation besieged by players susceptible to injuries and/or ineffectiveness.
