FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Boston Red Sox third baseman Adrian Beltre said Friday he was feeling much better after he twisted his right ankle earlier in the week.

During drills at the team's spring training complex Wednesday, Beltre attempted to swat a baseball out of the way with his mitt, but missed and stepped on the ball.

"It was weird," he said Friday morning. "But it's much, much better. I'm glad it's not as bad as it looked. I took it a little slower today and thankfully it was nothing serious."

The last two days he has remained inside to hit in the cage.

"He's OK," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said. "He's really fighting to get on the field. I would think he'll be out there tomorrow with no restrictions."
